Takata Airbag Recall

RecallHave you been hit by a Takata airbag recall?

Initially, the Japanese airbag supplier, Takata, thought the defective driver’s-side airbags malfunctioned only in humid climates, but U.S. federal safety regulators have disagreed, pushing for a more extensive recall.

The Takata airbag recall could potentially affect millions of vehicles made by Ford, Honda, Chrysler, Mazda and BMW. Most of the models effected were made in 2008 or earlier.

According to an article in The New York Times, the “airbags contain a propellant that can cause them to explode when they deploy in an accident, spraying metal debris from the casing into the car’s cabin and potentially injuring the driver or passenger.”
